To play The Butterfly Song,  one uses hands to make a butterfly on the piano!  Place both thumbs on the same  “c”  and “flap your wings!”  Every finger has a place.

Thumbs on the same c

Pointers on b & d

Middles on a & e

Rings on g & f

Pinkies on f & g

Instructions for Teacher/Adult

This is easy to play,  but it’s complicated to write!

Play one thumb on “c” (either the right hand or left hand or alternate).  The “c” is done on the “see” in lyrics.

On a beat,  play thumb, do both pointers, both middles, both rings, and both pinkies, both rings, both middles, both pointers, one thumb, both pointers, both middles, both rings, and both pinkies.

Pattern for 1, 2, 3 is out from c, in to c, out to f+g  (OUT, IN, OUT)

Pattern for 4 is out from c,  in to c,  then b&d (pointers), a&e (middles), b&d (pointers),  and end on c.
