God is everywhere by His Spirit but NOT everyone KNOWS God.   Do you want to KNOW God, the one true Creator God who made heaven and earth and also YOU?   Do you want to know Him, not just know about Him?

KEY VERSE:  “He [Jesus Christ] is the image of the invisible God …”   (Colossians 1:15)

KNOW HIS NAME 

When we meet people, we first learn their names. 

There is only one true God and His name is YHWH (Yah-weh).  YHWH is in the Hebrew language and means “I AM who I AM”.   (Exodus 3:14)  This is often written in English as Yahweh or Jehovah, and sometimes shortened to YAH.   Jesus’ name,  Yeshua, in Hebrew means “YAH saves”.   

GOD TALKS WITH PEOPLE

When we want to get to know someone, we talk to them.  If we want to be friends with them, we keep talking together and listening!

Adam and Eve, the first people,  once walked with YHWH God in the garden until they listened to the devil’s lie and disobeyed God.  But Adam and Eve did know the Almighty God as a person!   

Do you want to walk and talk with God?  Do you want to know YHWH?  God makes Himself known to those who want to know and follow Him! But God’s voice is usually heard in our hearts, by spiritual ears.

GOD MAKES HIMSELF KNOWN

God wants to talk with us.  We will look in the Book of Beginnings, Genesis, and see how often God made Himself known.

“Enoch walked with God…” (Genesis 5:22-24)

God spoke with Abraham, the father of the nation of Israel.  (Genesis 12:1; 13:14; 18:13; 22:11,15)    

Abraham saw the LORD in a vision. (Genesis 15:1)   

The LORD appeared to Abraham.  (Genesis 17:1)  

The LORD visited Sarah, the wife of Abraham.  (Genesis 21:1)

The LORD appeared to Isaac, the son of Abraham.  (Genesis 26:24)

Jacob, the son of Isaac, saw God in a dream. (Genesis 28:12,13; 31:11-13)

Jacob was renamed Israel by the LORD when he wrestled with God!  (Genesis 32:24-30) Verse 30:  “So Jacob called the name of the place Peniel, saying, “For I have seen God face to face, and yet my life has been delivered.”

God appeared to Jacob again.  (Genesis 35:9)

God visited Laban the Syrian, Jacob’s father-in-law in a dream. (Genesis 31:24).

Joseph was a son of Jacob.  “The LORD was with Joseph” that is to say that the Spirit of God was with him.   (Genesis 39:2,21; 41:38)

Wow!  God certainly made Himself known to a number of people and that’s just the first book of the Bible!

KNOWING JESUS IS KNOWING GOD

Do you want to know YHWH God person to person?  Do you want to walk and talk with God?  The Good News, the gospel,  is that He did make a Way for us to know Him through Jesus Christ, Yeshua!  

Jesus Christ is Immanuel, “God with us”.  He lived on the earth in a human body about 2000 years ago.  He died for us on the cross, then rose up from the dead, and then went back to heaven.   But God sends His Holy Spirit, the part you can’t see with natural eyes,  to live in believers when we trust in Him.  His Spirit will remain with us forever!  

Yeshua told us, “And behold, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”  (Matthew 28:20)  

Do you believe these things?  Then say it out loud that “Yeshua is LORD!”

Now, you should want to know more about this amazing God who loved us so much that he died for us!  HalleluYAH!

For older children:

Yeshua is “the image of the invisible God”. (Colossians 1:15)   When the people in the Bible saw YHWH God, they saw Yeshua.   The “Man” who was the “God” that Jacob wrestled with was Christ!  

Yeshua said… “I am the Way, and the Truth, and the Life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.”  (John 14:6)  If we want to know God, we must come through Yeshua who is “the image of the invisible God”.   

Yeshua said, “If you had known Me, you would have known my Father also. From now on you do know Him and have seen Him.”  (John 14:7)

If we know Yeshua, we know God!  Yeshua is “the image of the invisible God” (Colossians 1:15)

The apostles  of Jesus’ day saw Yeshua the Messiah in His earthly body.  Some of us today may see Yeshua in a dream or a vision.  My daughter when she was very young had a dream that Yeshua gave her a new heart!   Some may hear God’s voice, whether a whisper in the heart or as a “download” to our minds.   But we true Christians all know Him by His Spirit, the Holy Spirit of God who dwells in and with us!    We know Him by and through His Word!  If you want to know YHWH God, study His Word.  

THE WRITTEN WORD

Yeshua said, “It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh is no help at all. The words that I have spoken to you are spirit and life.”  (John 6:63)

When we read or hear and then receive the Words of Yeshua as Truth into ourselves, we have Life in Christ and we know Him.  When we believe on His name “Yeshua” which means “YAH saves”, we receive Life in Christ.     (John 1:12)

Long ago in the time of Abraham, there was no written Word of God.   Today we have His written Word in the Holy Scriptures.   Today God makes Himself known through His Word that He spoke and had men write down to form the Bible! 

“Long ago, at many times and in many ways, God spoke to our fathers by the prophets, but in these last days He has spoken to us by His Son, whom He appointed the heir of all things, through Whom also He created the world.”   (Hebrews 1:1-2)

We can know God through His Word which speaks of Him through the person of  Yeshua the Messiah, the Christ!   We have His sure Word written in a wonderful Book of Life!  HalleluYAH!   

GOD STILL SPEAKS

God still speaks to His people.  YHWH speaks through His Word, through Christ, through His Holy Spirit.   But knowing His sure written Word helps us to recognize His voice.   Yeshua cautioned us that liars would come saying they are Christ.    But those lying spirits, those lying words will NOT be the same as Yeshua’s truthful words that are life!   We must test the spirits and one way to do that is to compare what they say by what is written in God’s Word.  God’s word is truth!

We are so blessed to have God’s written Word but that does not mean that He has stopped appearing or talking to His people in other ways!   Many people,  in this time, especially in places where missionaries are not allowed,  have had visions of Christ.  God still speaks and leads His people by His Holy Spirit.  And, certainly, God speaks daily to us even through His creation!  (Romans 1:19-20)  God desires to be known.   That’s why He told us to go and preach the gospel, the Good News to all the world!

So if you want to know YHWH God, read the Bible!   (A good place to start is the the Book of John.)  If you want to know God better and to become His close friend, keep reading  His Word!    Pray and spend time listening to the voice of  His Holy Spirit.   You, too, can walk and talk with God!   Because of Yeshua the Messiah, if you believe in Him, there is nothing that can separate you from the Spirit of God!   And someday soon we will see Him, our Yeshua, face to face!

PSALM 27:4

“One thing have I asked of the LORD, that will I seek after: that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, to gaze upon the beauty of the LORD and to inquire in His temple.”
