Gobble-ly wobble-ly hey!
Tom turkey is running away
For on Thanksgiving Day
He’ll be served on a tray
Gobble-ly wobble-ly hey!

Gobble-ly wobble-ly bide!
Tom turkey thinks now to hide
He ducks in the house
Where he meets a nice mouse
Gobble-ly wobble-ly bide!

Hickory-dickory-dock!
The mouse runs inside a clock
Saying “Come, hide in here
You have nothing to fear”
Hickory-dickory-dock!

Gobble-ly wobble-ly dock!
“A turkey can’t fit in a clock!
There’s really no room
Oh, I’m surely doomed!”
Gobble-ly wobble-ly dock!

Gobble-ly wobble-ly boo!
“Now, what’s a turkey to do?
My end is quite near
I’m cooked goose, I fear”
Gobble-ly wobble-ly boo!

Hickory-dickory-dock!
The mouse looked out from the clock
“Well, then fly away fast
Or today is your last”
Hickory-dickory-dock!

Gobble-ly wobble-ly lai!
The bird flapped his wings to fly
But he was really too fat
He just fell and went “splat”
Gobble-ly wobble-ly lai!

Gobble-ly wobble-ly lai!
Tom turkey began now to cry
“Oh-boo-hoo-hoo-hoo
What’s a turkey to do?
Could not they just have a fish fry?”

Hickory-dickory-dock!
The mouse came out from the clock
“There’s your answer, my friend
Tomorrow need not be your end”
Hickory-dickory-dock!

Hickory-dickory-dock!
“They keep frozen fish well in stock
In the freezer… I saw…
We’ll pull the plug, make them thaw”
Hickory-dickory-dock!

Gobble-ly wobble-ly whish!
The people came in and smelled fish
“They’ll go bad, lest they’re cooked fast
Past tomorrow, they won’t last”
Gobble-ly wobble-ly! Tom had his wish!

Tom turkey is grateful to pray
For on Thanksgiving Day
Fish were served on a tray
Gobble-ly wobble-ly hey!

Did you know that wild turkeys CAN fly?   But most of the turkeys which have been bred for food are too fat and may have their wings clipped so that they can’t fly.  

“Cooked goose” is an expression that means one is in really BIG trouble!
