Le25 “God’s Law Fulfilled”

THINGS FULFILLED, THINGS FORGOTTEN

FULFILLMENT

God’s commandments can be summed up in the word: LOVE.

God showed us perfect love in the person of Jesus Christ. Jesus Christ (Yeshua) showed us how to love while He lived on earth. Yeshua fulfilled the eternal Law of Love. He Himself fulfilled the Law and the Prophets.

“Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them.” (Matthew 5:17)

If we believe in Yeshua the Messiah, the Savior, He lives in us and we live in Him. Since Christ fulfilled the Law, then we, being in Him, one in the Spirit, have also fulfilled the Law! We are righteous not because of what we have done, but only by what Yeshua has done for us!

This is an absolutely amazing thing God has done for us through our Savior! He solved our BIG SIN problem because He loves us so! Sin was keeping us from Him but through Yeshua, sin can no longer keep us from coming straight into the throne room of God! The way to the throne room is through the cross of Christ, and no other way! So great is God’s love for us that Yeshua died to make a way for us, for He is the Way!

“For as high as the heavens are above the earth, so great is His steadfast love toward those who fear Him;

As far as the east is from the west, so far does He remove our transgressions from us.

As a father shows compassion to his children, so the LORD shows compassion to those who fear Him.

For He knows our frame; He remembers that we are dust.” (Psalm 103:11-14)

God knows that we are weak humans who can easily fall into sin, who do not always live by the Law of Love. We sin.  Yet God wants us to be sorry for our sins, and to turn to Him as the solution for our sin problem.

“Repent, then, and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped out …” (Acts 3:19)

SINS REMOVED

Psalm 103 above shows us that God removes our transgressions, our sins far from us.

“As far as the east is from the west, so far does He remove our transgressions from us.”

The psalmist David also wrote:

“Have mercy on me, O God, according to your steadfast love; according to your abundant mercy blot out my transgressions.” (Psalm 51:1)

God has blotted out our sins! The LORD said,

“I, even I, am He who blots out your transgressions, for My own sake, and remembers your sins no more.” (Isaiah 43:25)

God doesn’t even remember our sins! He has chosen to forgive and forget them.

NAILED TO THE CROSS

All those Scriptures show God has absolutely solved our sin problem. The Savior Jesus Christ carried our load of sins to the cross and that’s how God took care of it!

“And you, who were dead in your trespasses … God made alive together with Him, having forgiven us all our trespasses, by canceling the record of debt that stood against us … This He set aside, nailing it to the cross.” (Colossians 2:13-14)

Our sins were nailed to the cross!

The song, “It Is Well” by Horation Spafford expresses this great mercy:

“My sin – oh, the bliss of this glorious thought – my sin not in part, but the whole, is nailed to the cross and I bear it no more, praise the LORD, praise the LORD, oh my soul!”

REMEMBER THAT GOD REMEMBERS NOT YOUR SIN

Yet sometimes we Christians need to be reminded that God has forgotten our sins! They are removed from us, blotted out, and remembered no more by God!

I was at church recently and during the quiet time after communion, I prayed, “God show me my sin.” I prayed this because I don’t want to sin, and I wanted God to show me if there was any “wicked way” (Ps 139:24) in me. So I prayed, “God show me my sin.”

Do you know what God showed me? He showed me the cross and the blackness of my sin upon it! Christ’s blood was all over it, for He had died there, all bruised and beaten because of people’s sins. Yet Yahshua Himself is no longer there – He is risen from the dead! HalleluYAH! But all my sin is on that cross. All your sin is on that cross, too!

That is why the Bible says:

“Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus…” (Romans 8:1)

God does not call Christians “guilty”! He calls us blameless, holy and righteous! He calls us His children! He is our heavenly Father! That is the gospel and that is very GOOD NEWS!

So now we are truly free from sin! We are free to live by the Spirit of God who has come to live in the hearts of those who believe in Jesus Christ the Savior! We can live knowing that the Law has been fulfilled through Christ in us. We can now live fulfilled lives by the Holy Spirit now within us.

“Thanks be to God for his indescribable gift!” (2 Cor 9:15)

May we NEVER FORGET GOD’S GREAT LOVE!  REMEMBER your SIN is FORGIVEN, FORGOTTEN, and REMOVED because of CHRIST!   And also REMEMBER that since God has also FORGIVEN that other Christian brother or sister their sins, you should too!
