Seven Visions of St. John was written for youths who are familiar with the Bible.
It recalls the old prophets that had insights about the end-times and then moves up to our present day where the youths enjoy a special summer camp as they learn about the fascinating Book of Revelation.
This book’s interpretation of Revelation is called by scholars a “recapitulation”. It is not chronological, but repeats itself and will cover the same incidents in various chapters. For example, the LORD returns more than once within the Book of Revelation. This “recapitulation” is not a new idea but goes back to the early church.
There are many symbols in Revelation. Some have a standard meaning originating from the Hebrew. But some symbols are more complex. Rather than giving one explanation for each of these symbols, this book gives a few interpretations that are rational. Possibly they are all right!
As we get closer to the time when the LORD will return, mysterious passages that are difficult to explain, will get clearer. We can then say “This is that”!
